The interiors of this palace are incredible!!
The exterior views are impressive but not as beautiful as Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte to the north.
But still a well run site and a must see.

A marvellous place to visit. The Napoleon room gives close contact with the emperor and his family and the kings chambers are fascinating, enabling one to understand the past.

Château de Fontainebleau ligger bara 55 kilometer från centrala Paris. Detta massiva palats har över 1500 rum utspridda på 130 hektar trädgårdar och parker. Det är ett av de största kungliga franska slott som någonsin har byggts.
Fontainebleau var mycket älskad av Napoléon Bonaparte, som övervakade mycket av restaureringsarbetet. Napoléon III var en annan regelbunden besökare, men som ett exempel på de förändringar det har sett var slottet under andra världskriget ett högkvarter för ockuperande tyskar. Det är nu ett Unesco-världsarv.
