You might know this famous tower from movies or postcards, but seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa up close, just beyond the busy city streets, is entirely different.
Built as the bell tower for nearby Cattedrale Metropolitana Primaziale di Santa Maria Assunta, it stands in Piazza dei Miracoli with other important landmarks.
After checking out the marble exterior—and snapping the usual ‘holding up the tower’ pictures, climb the tilted stairs to the top for a broad city view. You may also hear its seven bells, each in a different musical note.
Tickets are available for just the Leaning Tower (with optional audio guide). Want to see more? Opt for the Monuments ticket and get access to the Cathedral, Baptistery, Cemetery, and two museums in the same square.
